All roles are permanent.Reporting to the Unit Manager of either the Economic Indicators or Social and Community Statistics team, as a Senior Insights Analyst or Insights Analyst, you'll be responsible for the delivery of in-depth analytical work and research on behalf of, and in partnership with, other agencies, customers, stakeholders and partners. This includes providing advice on the strength and nature of insights obtained from analysis of the data.Insights Analysts are responsible for undertaking internally or externally commissioned research and analysis to derive insights on a range of subject matter areas. In addition, they analyse, provide advice on and assurance for core statistical releases.Senior Insights Analysts are developing expertise in research design across a range of domains and undertake complex pieces of research and analysis in partnership with other senior technical staff at Stats NZ as well as our customers and stakeholders - in particular other agencies.The Economic Indicators team is responsible for producing various early indicators of the state of the economy of Aotearoa, including Employment Indicators, Electronic Card Transactions, Building Consents Issued, Building Work Put in Place, Retail Trade, and Business Financial Data.This team is responsible for producing statistics about social wellbeing, disability and workplace injuries in Aotearoa New Zealand. These statistics are used across government and by community organisations to support work towards better and more equitable outcomes.It is an exciting time to join the team as it progresses design thinking on the future collection of social and community statistics and delivering an enhanced range of key insights to make a difference in the lives of New Zealanders.These roles would suit someone who can bring:Experience and interest in macroeconomic, population and housing, or social and environment data.A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (computer science, statistics, etc.) that has a significant data component or equivalent experience.Examples of technical leadership, e.g. in decision making, problem solving, or leading a technical project or piece of work.Strong demonstrated analytical skills, and a talent for telling meaningful stories with data.Familiarity with R, Power BI and SQL or other statistical packages to produce statistics would be advantageous.Experience in working to tight deadlines, good time management skills, and ability to adapt and respond to new information.Great team-working skills, personal resilience and the confidence to create strong working relationships.Excellent written and verbal communication skills that can explain complex concepts in plain English.Demonstrated customer centricity.Any information about your knowledge and experience, or desire to learn and build knowledge and experience of Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo and Te Ao Maori, and engagement with Maori.Have demonstrated, encouraged or supported diversity and inclusion in or outside of work.For senior roles, leading and developing technical capability, coaching and supporting others.For senior roles, experience with relevant quantitative and qualitative research on a range of diverse and complex research questions.We understand transferable skills can come from experience gained from outside of work.
