About the CompanyOur client, a kiwi-owned international freight forwarder, prides themselves in their specialist services, managing project cargo and providing general international freight forwarding services.About the RoleOur client is looking for an experienced freight forwarding operator or freight forwarding salesperson to join their team on a temporary basis, to cover for an employee going on maternity leave in December. The person can start in the role immediately, and there is also the possibility for the role to become permanent.Calling existing customers and responding to pricing enquiries, the role is focused on understanding existing customer needs and quoting international freight solutions, while ensuring a profit margin and up-selling where possible. This involves selecting overseas agents, shipping lines, airlines, unpacking/packing/stevedoring/crane company solutions depending on the cargo, a road transport provider, and obtaining rates, then combining to quote an end-to-end solution.Skills & ExperienceThe right candidate will have good knowledge of all aspects of end-to-end freight forwarding in an NZ context and will understand NZ geography, customers, and the agents across all sizes and modes. They will be able to obtain rates and prepare quotes while ensuring a profit margin. The right candidate may not have previous sales experience but is someone who enjoys talking to customers, may have customer service experience, but most crucially has strong freight forwarding knowledge.They will be:Self-motivated with proven ability to take ownership of their work and operate autonomouslyConfident on the phone and enjoy talking to customers and selling solutionsConfident with utilising ExcelWilling to roll their sleeves up and help the team where requiredHow to applyThe first step is to apply online via this job ad.
