Infrastructure Programme Controls Manager | Programme Management OfficeNewly created role in our Programme Management Office team supporting the biggest redevelopment underway since Auckland Airport opened in 1966.
We have a newly created role for a Programme Controls Manager who will ensure that cost, change, schedule and risk within assigned delivery programme(s) is rigorously managed, and that timely, accurate and effectively communicated performance information is provided to the airport business.
What you will be doingOur Infrastructure programme of work presents opportunities to be involved in a wide variety of exciting projects across the airport Precinct.
The development portfolio, encompassing both vertical and horizontal infrastructure, has over $5B of work within a fully operational environment, and this presents a unique and exciting challenge.
A cornerstone of our success will be effective project and programme controls across the numerous moving parts within our portfolio capital works programme.
Our Infrastructure business unit will develop and deliver our capital works projects across the Airport Precinct.
Projects range in complexity and scale from smaller, rapid response projects to major projects with significant capital investment including the brand-new Domestic Jet Terminal to be fully integrated into the International Terminal, airfield development, precinct-wide utilities development, and transport projects.
Your key responsibilities are:Cost and EstimatingEnsuring that project budgets are accurately estimated that they allow stakeholders to clearly understand and trade off where their money best delivers value, and that they capture Auckland Airport's unique requirements;Ensuring that project and programme cost performance is regularly reviewed, that this is well supported by variance and trend analysis, and that critical issues are elevated for broader attention;Ensuring that current project and programme cost data is readily available to the business and that it is presented at a level which provides clarity on performance to the different audiences that utilize it;Together with Programme Integration Manager, and Programme Cost Manager establishing and implementing an Earned Value (EV) management system which provides an appropriate level of visibility and control to project performance.Planning and SchedulingEnsuring that project schedules are current and meet Auckland Airport requirements for integrity and detail appropriate to the stage of project.Ensuring that project schedule performance is regularly reviewed, that this is well supported by variance and trend analysis, and that critical issues are elevated for broader attention.Ensuring that project schedules align to the integrated portfolio capital works master schedule and that critical interface points are identified and tracked.Ensuring that programme schedule data is readily available to the business and that it is presented at a level which provides clarity on performance to the different audiences that utilize it.Performance and MonitoringAnalyse variances and provide insights to project stakeholders for informed decision making.
Ensuring that project change is actively captured, categorized, tracked, and incorporated into project forecasts such that action to mitigate can be taken in a timely manner;Ensuring that key performance indicators (KPI's) are implemented and managed to assess project performance.Risk and OpportunityMaintaining a holistic understanding of business, scope, schedule, and cost objectives and using this to actively participate in risk and opportunity forums.Ensuring that project risks and opportunity registers and Quantified Risk Assessments (QRAs) are maintained current and that they fairly reflect the risk and opportunity profile for the projects that they cover.Ensuring that risk and opportunity are presented at a level which provides clarity on performance to the different audiences that utilize them.Ensuring escalation of risks and opportunities where appropriate and that mitigations are committed to and tracked.What you'll bring to the roleAt Auckland Airport, we are a busy hive of activity, and a lot of what we look for is how you would align with our AKL values All In | Tatou tatou – How we feel, Know How | Kokiri Tahi – How we think and Let's Go | Karawhiua – How we act.
To ensure your success in this role, you will need:
Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Finance or related field;15 + years' experience in project controls disciplines managing cost, estimating, schedule and risk within complex capital development programmes;Proven ability to support and influence project personnel in the application of fit for purpose project controls processes and methods, leading to predictable and successful project outcomes;Knowledge of construction methodologies, contract management, and relevant industry standards;Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment;Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders;Experience in the governance of programmes or large projects at senior executive level.Experience working inside or intimately with large asset developer/owner/operator organisations, and a sound understanding of the diverse factors that make these businesses successful;Proven experience in the successful delivery of airport or other large, complex public infrastructure projects.About usFrom the arrival of the Tainui Waka into the Manukau Harbour, Auckland Airport has always been a place of journeys.
