Our Infrastructure programme of work presents opportunities to be involved in a wide variety of exciting projects across the airport Precinct. The development portfolio, encompassing both vertical and horizontal infrastructure, has over $5B of work within a fully operational environment, and this presents a unique and exciting challenge. A cornerstone of our success will be effective project and programme controls across the numerous moving parts within our portfolio capital works programme.
Our Infrastructure business unit will develop and deliver our capital works projects across the Airport Precinct. Projects range in complexity and scale from smaller, rapid response projects to major projects with significant capital investment including the brand-new Domestic Jet Terminal to be fully integrated into the International Terminal, airfield development, precinct-wide utilities development, and transport projects.
We have a newly created role for a Programme Controls Manager who will ensure that cost, change, schedule and risk within assigned delivery programme(s) is rigorously managed, and that timely, accurate and effectively communicated performance information is provided to the airport business.
Your key responsibilities are: Cost and Estimating
Ensuring that project budgets are accurately estimated and that stakeholders are able to understand and trade off where their money best delivers value;
Ensuring that project and programme cost performance is regularly reviewed and is supported by variance and trend analysis;
Ensuring that current project and programme cost data is visible to the business;
Together with Programme Schedule Manager, establishing and implementing an Earned value (EV) management system which provides an appropriate level of visibility and control to project performance.
Schedule
Ensuring that project schedules are current and meet Auckland Airport requirements;
Ensuring that project schedule performance is regularly reviewed, that this is well supported by variance and trend analysis, and that critical issues are elevated for broader attention;
Ensuring that project schedules align to the integrated portfolio capital works master schedule and that critical interface points are identified and tracked;
Ensuring that programme schedule data is readily available to the business.
Change
Ensuring that project change is actively captured, categorized, tracked and incorporated into project forecasts.
Risk and Opportunity
Maintaining a holistic understanding of business, scope, schedule and cost objectives and using this to actively participate in risk and opportunity forums;
Ensuring that project risks and opportunity registers and Quantified Risk Assessments (QRAs) are maintained current;
Ensuring that risk and opportunity are presented at a level which provides clarity on performance;
Ensuring escalation of risks and opportunities where appropriate and that mitigations are tracked.
What you'll bring to the role To ensure your success in this role, you will need:
Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Finance or related field;
At least 15 years' experience in Project Controls disciplines managing cost, estimating, schedule and risk within complex capital development programmes;
Proven ability to support and influence project personnel in the application of fit for purpose project controls processes and methods, leading to predictable and successful project outcomes;
Experience in the governance of programmes or large projects at senior executive level;
Experience working inside or intimately with large asset developer/owner/operator organisations, and a sound understanding of the diverse factors that make these businesses successful;
Proven experience in the successful delivery of airport or other large, complex public infrastructure projects.
