You will have the ability to work within a growing team, covering both projects and operational work.While we don't expect any single person to have all of the below skills, the more that resonates with you to support the wider Infrastructure team, the better you'll fit in!Network services:Strong familiarity with the OSI model.Experience and understanding of basic L2 switching, including VLANs, PPP, and bridging.Experience and understanding of dynamic IP routing protocols, including OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP.Ability to troubleshoot from first principles.ISP network knowledge.Understand the meaning and implementation of acronyms such as DHCP, PPPoE, L2TP, VXLAN, LDP, MPLS, and RSVP-TE.Systems services:Familiarity with server hardware.Comfortable with hypervisor and virtual server technology, including Proxmox and KVM.PaaS containerization platforms, including Docker/Swarm.Understanding of Microsoft servers and Active Directory based environments.Linux server knowledge, including both RHEL and Debian based platforms.Comfortable with M365 and Entra ID.Understanding of VoIP and SIP technologies and support.Cloud-based security platform management and deployment.Good understanding of backup principles, operations, and ongoing admin/support.Development:Design, implementation, and consumption of RESTful APIs.Familiarity with NodeJS, React, PHP, MySQL/MariaDB, InfluxDB, and MongoDB.Core skills:Strong motivation to learn and upskill.Be an effective troubleshooter and excellent problem-solver, being able to conduct research to establish and identify an issue through to resolution, or find a better way of doing things.Comfortable using CLI and shell-based interfaces.Customer service skills, viewing customers as relationships, not numbers.Understanding of escalation principles, triaging, and working with vendors and suppliers' support teams.A keen attitude to "get stuck in," assisting and helping the team where required.Have a full driver's license, and be willing to travel nationally to deploy and maintain network hardware in data centers & exchanges.Be able to obtain a "Secret" level national security clearance if required.To reiterate, we are not expecting you to have all the above skills on-hand.
