About the role:
You will be part of the painting team working on a major project involving the refurbishment of marine vessels. You will undertake preparation and painting work which will include:
Surface preparation using equipment such as scrapers, sandpaper, wire brushes, needle guns and abrasive/water blasting. Building, shaping and levelling of surfaces. Preparation of coating materials. Application of industrial coatings to a high-quality standard including paint, varnish, enamel, acrylic, lacquer, and epoxy resin. This is an initial 3 month project with opportunity for longer term work.
Skills + Experience:
For this role, you will need to:
Have at least 2 years' proven preparation and application experience working in a heavy industrial environment (or similar) Have knowledge about the safe use of coatings application processes, as well as the safe use of equipment and the handling of hazardous substances. Be familiar with the preparation of metal in a marine environment which will include chemical solvent treatments. Have current Elevated Work Platform and Confined Workspace tickets (or be willing to get them). They undertake major projects for the refurbishment of Naval vessels and offer a range of short and long term project based contracts.
