Supporting neurodiverse learners Permanent, full-time Albany location with park-like grounds The opportunity | Te Whiwhingamahi Kristin School is a co-educational, non-denominational, independent school on Auckland's North Shore. It provides education for over 1800 students from Early Learning to Year 13, with dual pathways through NCEA and the International Baccalaureate programme.
The Lead Teacher – Neurodiverse Learners is responsible for increasing access and engagement for a diverse group of learners through identifying learning needs and working with teachers to remove barriers that might otherwise exclude students. This role involves working closely with students, whanau, year-level deans, and teachers. It includes identifying students for special assessment conditions (SACs), screening, assisting with transitions, and developing individualised learning plans (IEPs). This role will focus on the Middle School years (7-10), so experience with this age group is beneficial; however, as a member of the Inclusive Learning Team, you will also be required to work with students in the Senior School.
Reporting to the Head of Inclusive Learning, this role will work with other specialist teachers, an administrator, and learning assistants. As a valued member of our teaching staff, you will be required to participate in the school's annual camp and co-curricular programmes.
This role would suit a candidate with SENCo/Learning Support Coordinator experience.
