Mo te tunga | About the role
Canterbury Health Laboratories, and the Immunology section within it, is approved by the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA). The teaching programme within the immunology section is linked to other training centres in New Zealand through a weekly video linked tutorial programme usually run on Monday mornings (0800 to 0900hrs). You will be expected to be the primary presenter of selected topics and otherwise participate actively in this programme.
This role is primarily designed as an advanced training position for specialist qualification in medical immunology. It may also qualify in part or fully for core or non-core advanced training in rheumatology. This training can be done via RACP, RACP/RCPA ("dual training"), or RCPA.
While this is a laboratory-based position, you will be expected to maintain some involvement in clinical activities. There may also be occasions when services will be provided in the wider community.
You will report to the Clinical Director of Immunology, through the Senior Medical Officer (SMO) with whom you will be working at the time.
This is a full-time position, starting 28 July 2025.

Experience in Immunology at the level of House Officer or Registrar.
Knowledge and commitment of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how the principles can be applied to health.
A willingness to grow and further develop an equity lens and skillset, both to assist Maori and minority groups.
