Napier City Council is currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Sportsground Team Members at Nelson Park assisting with scheduled events at McLean Park along with other city areas when required. If you are passionate about sports and enjoy working outdoors, this is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and preparation of our sports surfaces in the Napier City Council area.
As a Sportsground Team Member, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our sportsgrounds are in optimal condition for various activities and events. You will be actively involved in the preparation of sports turf surfaces to national standards and carry out day-to-day maintenance of sportsgrounds to ensure they remain well presented at all times. You'll work closely with a dynamic team to prepare, maintain, and enhance the grounds at our outdoor sports facilities, contributing to a positive experience for athletes and sports enthusiasts.
Working hours will be 42.5 hours per week, generally between the hours of 7am-4pm Monday - Friday, with the flexibility to work weekends as required for events.
To be successful in this role you will have: Qualification in Sports Turf Management (Level 4) Current Agrichemical Approved Handlers Certificate or Certified Handlers Certificate Experience with Hybrid Turf & technical irrigation requirements and equipment Substantial experience (at least five years) in turf management and sportsgrounds preparation, especially for cricket, rugby, and football Able to work under pressure in high-profile public situations and maintain positive public relations Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team We will be interviewing applications as we receive them and may close the role when we have found the right person.
