Position Overview This role specializes in the design and installation of air handling systems such as fan coil, ducted central, ventilation systems across New Zealand, mainly in Canterbury, combining technical design expertise with hands-on installation experience. You will collaborate closely with project managers, sales, and installation teams to deliver high-quality, energy-efficient systems tailored to client needs. Key Responsibilities Design and create detailed schematics and technical drawings for air handling systems such as fan coil, ducted central, ventilation systemsConduct site assessments to tailor system designs to client needs, factoring in New Zealand-specific regulations and standards.Oversee the installation of ventilation and ducted central systems, ensuring accurate implementation of designs, including troubleshooting and resolving on-site challenges.Coordinate with installation teams to facilitate efficient, safe installations.Perform quality checks and verify system performance post-installation, ensuring alignment with design specifications and client satisfaction.Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and clients to manage and communicate project requirements and timelines. Requirements Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in HVAC design and installation, with specific expertise in air handling systems such as fan coil, ducted central heating, ventilation systemsProven hands-on installation experience, with a solid record of successfully managing both design and on-site tasks.Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD or similar software for creating accurate technical drawings and schematics.In-depth understanding of New Zealand building codes, regulations, and standards related to HVAC, ventilation, and air handling systems.Knowledge of best practices for energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and sustainability in HVAC design and installations.Certifications: Relevant HVAC or mechanical certifications are preferred, with an emphasis on credentials that verify hands-on experience in both design and field installations.Site Safe, and other safety certifications are beneficial, especially for on-site work.Physical Ability: Ability to perform physical installation work, including lifting, climbing, and using tools safely.Comfortable working in varied environments and weather conditions as required by on-site duties.Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve design and installation challenges independently.Excellent communication skills for collaborating with clients, contractors, and team members.Project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage project timelines effectively.Preferred Qualifications Background in HVAC or mechanical engineering is advantageous.Previous experience in a combined design and field-based role, with familiarity in transitioning between office-based design tasks and field installation work.
