The Registered Midwife role is a rostered and rotating role which allows midwives to work across the full scope of midwifery practice. Our midwives provide care for primary birthing people as well as those with more complex needs, to antenatal and postnatal people and their babies. This allows us to offer many options for career development and a superior quality of care for our pregnant people, their babies and whanau in our community.
Hutt Maternity is a patient focused practice providing personalised, state-of-the-art medical care to pregnant people. On average five babies are born in the Hutt Valley every day and we provide primary and secondary maternity care for about 1800 pregnant people a year in the Hutt Valley.
There is the opportunity to apply to work in the Maternity Assessment Unit on a permanent contract. In the MAU space, you will assess pregnant people in an acute setting, work with pregnant people who are seeing the Secondary Care Obstetric service and provide education to pregnant people related to specific needs they may have.
The Community Midwifery Team are seeking part time, confident & experienced midwives, providing antenatal and postnatal care and working across a variety of settings, including in the community, clinics, Birthing Suite and postnatal wards. This role is across the district which includes Wellington, Porirua and Hutt Valley.
The Community Midwifery Team provides antenatal and postnatal midwifery care in any setting to approximately 1200 mama/parents, pepi and whanau across the wider Wellington Region per year, including the home and hospital:
For primary women who cannot find community based LMCsFor secondary women requiring hospital midwifery servicesFor women under tertiary care who have transferred from another District and are less than 6 weeks postnatal and have a baby in the Neo Natal Unit.Our midwifery unit functions much like an extended family, with work-life balance being extremely important to all of our staff.
