Interested in museum collections management and working hands on with Te Papa's amazing Humanities collections? Te Papa is looking for a Humanities Technician to be part of our world-leading, bicultural, cross-disciplinary museum. This role is for a 5 month fixed term from 15 July – 29 November 2024, working 32 hours/ 4 days per week.
Reporting, to the Manager Digital & Collections Information Systems, you'll be responsible for the registration and documentation associated with the Humanities collections. The role's main objective is to support the digitisation workflow to ensure that collection items are supplied to the Collection Imaging Team and can be identified, located, and managed,
The successful candidate must demonstrate:
Experience in cataloguing or collections management within a museum, library or archives environment (preferably experience with using EMu)Experience in handling and transit of collection items/taongaHave high attention to detail and accuracy in documentation so that collection items/taonga can be identified, located and managedBe methodical and have good time management in delivering to assigned tasks and timelinesBe able to work independently and effectively on repetitive tasksBe willing to work co-operatively with othersBe able to learn under supervision and then apply knowledge to tasks at handPhysically fit and able to handle heavy or awkward collection items/taonga.Awareness of cultural considerations and tikanga applicable in museum or cultural heritage environmentDesirable but not essential to have a full drivers licence.

Prior to Te Papa confirming any offer of employment, pre-employment checks will be undertaken including criminal conviction history and reference checking as a minimum.
The salary for this position will be between $59,500 - $67,000. Offers will be made within the range to reflect the skills and experience offered by the candidate and those required of the role and internal relativities with other employees.
