We have a great opportunity for an experienced HR Advisor to provide trusted adviser support to relevant business units for a large Public Sector organisation. This role will work closely with other members of the HR operational team, Employment Relations Manager, HR Performance & Systems Development Manager, and other colleagues in recruitment, health and safety and occupational health, and building capability to ensure a comprehensive HR service is delivered to the organisation. This is an immediate start 4 month contract role (that is likely to be extended) working full time hours with one work from home day per week. Based in South Auckland. The Role Provide practical operational support to HR Managers. Provide support with grievance, disciplinary and capability investigations and hearings. Ensure managers and staff are provided with appropriate and timely advice and intervention. Work closely with HR colleagues to monitor, review and update policies in line with current legislation and best practice. Help drive organisational performance by driving core business objectives. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with managers in services. Assist with staff recruitment and induction programmes and the development of these processes. Provide support for remuneration systems.. Updating and maintaining HR Information systems. Participate and lead in HR learning and development programmes for managers. The Ideal Candidate Qualification in Human Resources or another related field. At least 2 years experience in applying HR policy and processes to practice - this should include providing advice to managers, dealing with matters involving payroll and interpreting employment agreements. Experience in a unionised organisation would be an advantage. Knowledge of contemporary HRM theory and practice. Knowledge of NZ employment legislation and experience of it's application in an HR or general management environment. Ability to assess ER/organisational risk and seek advise where appropriate. Expert user of MS Office. Advanced interpersonal and conflict management skills. Demonstrates lateral thinking, flexibilty, effective management of conflicting priorities and delivering results to deadlines.
