Human Resource Officer

Details of the offer

Originally built in 1881 to provide accommodation to European settlers who came to bathe in the clear hot springs, our property has grown into a rural oasis spanning 75 hectares. Just ten minutes from the adventurous township of Taupo, Wairakei Resort now offers accommodation of 187 rooms, a 200-seated restaurant, and a 130 spaced house-bar. Our sports facility includes tennis, basketball, and football. Our two naturally heated pools offer all year-round enjoyment. We have a newly renovated gym and squash court, and our 9-hole golf course is now open again for the summer season.
Keeping this place on its feet is a daily challenge, and one of those is our people. From building a productive and functional culture, managing performance expectations to development of careers, the HR umbrella is a wide one.
Based on site and supporting the Human Resource Manager, this position will:
Support the ongoing development of a safe workplace
Conduct health and safety meetings
Facilitate the development of our core values [Ownership, Unity, Respectfulness, Innovation, and Inspiration]
Lead the recruitment process in line with the approved Org Chart
Conduct new employee inductions and maintain employee records
Be a staff advocate and foster a positive culture
Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives
Maintain the policy, SOP, and SWP libraries
Maintain training records and the training matrix
As HR practitioners, the measure of our success is in having our teams want to come to work each day, and to help us achieve this you will need to demonstrate a solid foundation of administration and communication skills. Additionally, you will have had a healthy grounding in the HR space [1-2 years], looking to develop your HR career further. Experience in the hospitality industry is not required, but your natural flair for customer service will shine as everyone here is in a guest-facing position.
We provide a professional yet relaxed working culture where our teams are empowered, rewarded, and appreciated. So, if this sounds like you, put your best foot forward by sending me your CV and a cover letter explaining why you are drawn to the dark arts of human resources.
Only successful candidates will be contacted.
