The purpose of a People Lead is to ensure the capabilities, performance, training requirements, career planning, and development needs of the people are catered to build a high-performance and 'can do' culture. In conjunction with providing support and leadership, the People Lead provides coaching and mentoring to the staff within the team through the promotion of appropriate business area culture policy, processes, and standard practices as part of the structured performance management process and assists them in planning their career progression.
The People Lead will work with relevant stakeholders across their Service Group and the Technology Performance group to develop fit-for-purpose and effective workforce planning for their service group. This includes implementing those plans, covering recruitment, diversity development, onboarding, and offboarding of people within the team, as needed. The responsibilities of your new position include:
Talent, People Strategy and Planning Leader
Co-ordinates the ongoing talent management and resourcing strategy (supporting the Service Group Owner) to plan and manage a service group's current and future talent and resource needs.
Establishes a positive culture and a healthy and safe working environment per legislation and regulations.
People Leadership and Development
Leads with the Service Group Owner to develop a constructive and high-performing culture that leads to the ongoing growth of a highly engaged team to maximise employee and organisation performance.
Manages, develops, and grows high-performing people in accordance with Westpac's people principles and processes. This includes providing role clarity, maximising employee performance, and mentoring and coaching to ensure the right people are in the right roles to deliver the services required to achieve business objectives.
Contributes extensively to the wider Service Groups and collaborates to drive and deliver the Technology strategy.
Coaches and develops team members to deliver to the WNZL Technology strategy.
Demonstrated success in leading cultural transformation and driving change.
Ability to act independently within the agreed framework.
Internal Technology, own Business Unit and Partner Collaboration
Oversee and influence relationships with and between key stakeholders—leaders and Senior Leaders within the organisation, including the community of People Leaders.
Works with partners and providers to augment or enhance our people resourcing mix to meet the demands of the Service Group's services.
Manages and implements strategic resource partners to ensure technology has access to the best available resources as required to bring best practice, capability uplift and project execution to be developed and implemented.
Coach, communicate and direct internal teams on strategy and critical decisions.
Resource Management
Manages the movement of people within the Service Group depending on needs (although we believe in keeping our squads together wherever and whenever we can).
Accountable for recruitment and onboarding of any new hires, as required.
Coordinates and includes craft leaders/chapter leads in the selection process.
Builds and develops talent pipelines for roles across people-lead areas of accountability.
Focuses on building diverse technology talent and talent pipelines.
Technology Framework and Processes
Develop accountable Technology frameworks and processes that relate to supporting culture and people development.
Focus on improving internal customer satisfaction via continuous improvement of accountable framework and processes.
Coaching/mentoring teams on process adoption and feeding back ongoing improvements.
Working with Service Group Owners and Chapter Leads to help deliver consistent application and alignment of Technology processes.
In addition to the above, you agree to carry out any other duties that Westpac may reasonably request of you occasionally.

At least 5+ years' experience managing technical professionals.
SME knowledge of the practice area being managed is strongly preferred.
Proven experience in people leadership of large teams.
High level of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and self-awareness.
Coaching, Mentoring and Facilitation skills.
Ability to develop and grow high-performing people, providing role clarity, identifying talent, and maximising employee performance.
Proven experience in establishing a positive culture, together with a healthy and safe working environment.
High level of collaboration with multiple areas around the business to determine workforce management planning.
Experience in recruitment and management of end-to-end employee lifecycle.
