About this Opportunity Reporting to the National HSE Manager, this newly created role will be the first point for contact for all Health, Safety and Environment related matters for our Auckland site. This role will advise, coach and guide the managers and employees on the company Health and Safety policies, procedures and practices. This role will assist in deploying strategic objectives and lead the implementation of specific HSE initiatives for Auckland site. As the HSE Advisor, you will collaborate with the site to provide operational and hands-on support in the form of technical and practical HSE advice and coaching to establish and sustain a safety culture focused on risk reduction/management, injury prevention, and continuous improvement. This role makes sure all HSE legislation and other regulations are complied with, ensuring processes and standards are built consistently and high levels of system integrity are achieved through regular site auditing to support the Self Insurance initiative. Your key responsibilities will include, but not limited: Work collaboratively with the site to provide technical and practical HSE advice and coaching to establish and maintain a safety culture focused on risk reduction/management, injury prevention and continual improvement. Ensuring all HSE legislation and other regulations are complied with, ensuring processes and standards are built consistently and high levels of system integrity are achieved through regular site auditing to support safety initiatives. Facilitate HSE training programs. Provide advice and support to leaders with return to work (RTW) plans, taking responsibility for claims files and reviews, RTW plans and related communications. Conduct regular analysis against targets in areas of premium performance, claims and injury management - identifying blockers, opportunities, and other influencing factors, with recommendations for site leaders to address patterns and performance against targets. Partnering with Site Leadership teams to prepare for the HSE audit and provide recommendations and drive ownership for the site action plan including supporting the leadership team to close out corrective actions. Managing the day-to-day Safety Management Systems. What you'll need to succeed: A minimum of 2-3 years' experience within a HSE Environment within construction and/or manufacturing. Health and Safety qualification and knowledge of risk management processes and tools. Good understanding of safety data trends and providing effective advice on data analytics. Ability to interpret legislation, regulations and guidelines and make practical recommendations to the site are critical to adding value in the role. Proven experience leading incident investigations, risk assessments and audits. Proven ability to nurture strategic relationships with managers and employees and taking them on the HSE journey forward. High level of computer literacy and developed administrative skills. Able to engage and influence multiple stakeholders at all levels. Sound working knowledge of relevant legal frameworks in New Zealand. Demonstrate a practical, visible commitment and behavioural leadership to improving H&S performance in all work environments and areas of the business.
