Now part of the Global Top 5 dairy company Yili Group, in New Zealand Westland Milk also has a sister company Oceania Dairy (Glenavy) and subsidiary companies Pure Nutrition Ltd (Rolleston), Canary Foods (Hamilton) and EasiYo (Auckland).The RoleWith an impending new arrival due for our current HR Manager - Westland & Subsidiaries, we have a great opportunity based in Westland's corporate office (Christchurch-Hornby) for an experienced HR practitioner to provide dedicated leadership to a team of 4 (3 HRBP's and 1 HR/OD Coordinator) in a 12-month parental leave cover capacity. Reporting to the Group GM People & Culture, the role will quickly develop a deep understanding of the business and will enhance the development of a culture of engagement and empowerment throughout Westland Milk (Christchurch & Hokitika) and its 3 subsidiaries and will work closely with Oceania Dairy to achieve further HR related synergies across the group. The role will provide advice and guidance on a wide range of HR/People issues, ensuring that HR is viewed as a valued and trusted advisor within the business.More specifically, the HR Manager will:-Contribute to and implement people strategy, policies and frameworks which are aligned with Westland and the Group's strategic business goalsContribute to and ensure the high performance of the HR team, providing motivational leadership, guidance and development to the teamBe the trusted advisor and coach of GM's, Managers and Supervisors within your portfolio on people issuesProvide robust technical Human Resources, Employment Relations and Industrial Relations advice to the organisationEnsure that a positive and engaged company culture is continually enhancedProvide coaching and support on all HR systems, policies, processes and management practicesAssist with and take the lead on change management, remuneration and organisation development projects as requiredAssist with overseeing the performance appraisal process across the organisationAssist with the development and implementation of group synergy projects as requiredThe Ideal Candidate:-The ideal candidate will be an experienced, tertiary qualified, generalist HR Manager with well-developed Employee Relations experience, and able to demonstrate proven success at empowering managers and building the capability of HR 'across and down' throughout a business. Well versed in performance management principles and robust HR frameworks and with a proven history of coaching for performance, applicants will also ideally possess the ability to contribute to OD and change management initiatives. Superior coaching, leadership and influencing skills are essential and exceptional relationship building abilities are non-negotiable.More specifically, candidates will ideally possess:-Proven experience in a generalist HR management role delivering advice to all levels of a businessSound working knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation, trends and practicesExperience with a variety of HR applications including candidate management systems, remuneration review systems and performance appraisal systemsExceptional relationship management and influencing ability coupled with well-developed written and verbal communication skillsAn adaptable approach and the ability to navigate through and lead changeExperience of working within a large complex organisation and ideally in a manufacturing/production-based (& preferably unionised) environmentIt's an exciting time in Westland's and our wider Group's evolution and the opportunity to be involved in so many areas provides a great opportunity for an experienced HR leader with high energy and charisma to continue your own journey whilst gaining the satisfaction that you're playing an important part in ours!
