Our structure comprises of six key business units; Corporate Services, Integrated Catchment Management, Asset Management, Maori Partnerships, Policy & Regulation, and the Executive Advisory Group which also consists of the Civil Defence and Emergency Management.About the Opportunity:We are seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Lead to join our team and drive excellence in our HR function. This pivotal role will enhance employee relations, strengthen performance management systems, support growth, accountability and engagement across the organisation. As the HR Lead, you will oversee all HR operations for the full employee experience/lifecycle. This includes providing expert guidance on complex matters, regular reporting to our ELT, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and best practices. You will lead a dedicated team of HR professionals and work collaboratively with stakeholders to align HR plans and activities with organisational goals and priorities.Reporting to the General Manager – Corporate Services, the role of HR Lead will specifically:Be a strategic partner in driving the HR function within our organisation, focusing on enhancing employee relations and performance management.Oversee all HR operations, including providing expert guidance on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, grievance handling, and disciplinary processes through a hands-on, lead from the front approach.Foster a positive workplace culture and ensure that HR practices align with our organisational goals.Implement and manage performance management systems that promote employee development and accountability, ensuring that all staff receive constructive feedback and support for their growth.Ensure the team and managers comply with employment laws and best practices.About you:You will be a person of mana and integrity who is able to inspire and build a positive team culture to deliver a first-class HR service to the Council.Ideally you will have:Relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management.Significant experience in HR, with a focus on employee relations, performance management and coaching and developing managers.Sound understanding of HR compliance requirements and relevant legislation, including the Employment Relations Act.Experience in leading HR initiatives during organisational change, including mergers, acquisitions, or restructuring.Demonstrated awareness of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and including Te Reo Maori in relevant and practical ways in interaction and engagement to demonstrate respect and value of Tikanga Maori in appropriate settings.In addition to a competitive salary, other benefits of working for our team include limited income protection and life insurance and other well-being initiatives.
