Human Resources Advisor - Employment Relations
HR role in a large organisation based in central Auckland
Opportunity to strengthen and use your ER/IR skills
Work for an organisation that makes an important social contribution
Join our HR team and help foster a workforce that supports New Zealanders with disabilities to maximise their potential.
Spectrum Foundation is the parent company for Spectrum Care and Homes of Choice. All three organisations are engaged in activities and services that strive to improve the lives of disabled New Zealanders and their families. Homes of Choice is focussed on the provision of housing, whilst Spectrum Care employs staff that provide a variety of care and support services. Spectrum Foundation has grown steadily over the last 25 years. Together, these three charitable organisations now employ about 1,300 staff across the North Island.
As well as being involved in philanthropy, Spectrum Foundation provides shared services for Spectrum Care and Homes of Choice. As an HR Advisor, you would partner with managers in these organisations to shape and implement the HR support services they need to sustain a thriving workforce that is well-equipped to enhance the lives of disabled people.
Within shared services you would collaborate with recruitment, learning, safety and payroll specialists, team up with other HR staff and report to an experienced Employment Relations Lead. The HR Advisor is a generalist role that has a heavy dose of ER/IR. To be successful, you would need to possess, or have the capability to develop, good skills in investigation, communication and problem-solving. Building strong relationships with your clients in Spectrum Care and Homes of Choice will hold you in good stead - as would the ability to use data to identify risks and opportunities.
For us, the ideal candidate will have a solid grounding in employment law and immigration policy and experience in complex and unionised environments that also have a large workforce. But really it's the underpinning skills and attitudes that are more important, like:
Your excellent written and verbal communication
Evidence that you can build relationships and influence with clients/managers
The ability to use technology and harness data
You do your research when you need an answer (diligent and evidence-based)
Resilience and composure (maturity, but we don't mean age!)
You believe in social justice and a more equitable society
What will you get out of this?
The opportunity to develop and evidence your many skills in a complex environment
A supportive team environment
An attractive, centrally-based head office (Greenlane)
The opportunity to work from home part of the week
The satisfaction of knowing that what you do contributes to a better, fairer New Zealand.
