HR Advisor Position Are you an experienced HR Advisor looking for your next stimulating challenge? Work with a team that values collaboration and innovation. Do you want to make a positive difference to the protection of New Zealand's border from serious threats, the facilitation of legitimate trade and travel, and the collection of customs and excise revenue on behalf of the Crown?
We are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join the People and Capability team. You will be part of a team based at Auckland Customhouse but will be required to work at Auckland Airport and the Auckland Airport Air Cargo Inspection Facility on a regular basis.
To be part of the People and Capability advisory team, we are looking for a real Go-Getter, someone with previous experience working in an HR Generalist role and supporting people leaders in employment and disciplinary matters. Experience working in the Public sector would be an advantage. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy the challenge of providing quality and consistent advice and support to managers and employees.
This important role requires a high level of relationship management. You will be confident, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and possess strong attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities Responding to general HR inquiries on topics which include the full breadth of the employee lifecycle;
Advising managers on HR policies and processes;
Assisting both people leaders and the HR Advisory team with employment relations issues and disciplinary cases;
Providing quality assurance on contracts and letters;
Supporting the wider HR Advisory team.
Minimum Requirements 3-4 years' experience in the management of employment and disciplinary matters.
Experience working in the Public sector would be advantageous.
Experience in a unionised working environment.
Quick to pick up new systems and proficient in using all applications within the Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
HR qualification or similar level experience.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong and effective relationships.
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

How to Apply To join Customs in any role, you must be a New Zealand citizen or NZ permanent resident. You will be required to provide overseas police certificates for periods spent outside of New Zealand. You must have a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service towards a recommendation of suitability for security clearance at a higher level. Due to the nature of Customs work, you must have a clear Police record. Successful applicants are also required to pass a drug test.
