Title: Hotel Accountant Location: Te Anau, Southland Job Type: Permanent Full-time (30 hours minimum) Pay Rate: $29~$34 (based on experience) Company Overview: thevillageinn.co.nz Position Overview: We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Hotel Accountant to join our team in Te Anau. This permanent, full-time role involves managing a comprehensive range of accounting functions for our hotel located in Te Anau, New Zealand. Key responsibilities include: Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and hotel policies. Present financial reports to hotel management and stakeholders. Financial Management: Overseeing the financial operations of the hotel, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and financial reporting. Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Foster collaboration between the finance department and other departments like Food & Beverage, Front Office, and Housekeeping to ensure financial efficiency. Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit tax returns, including PAYE and GST (NZ), ensuring compliance with local tax regulations. Cost Control and Profit Maximization: Monitor departmental spending, inventory, and financial discrepancies. Risk Management: Identify potential financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Ensure the safeguarding of hotel assets through effective financial controls and procedures. External Liaison: Coordinate with internal and external audits and ensure any audit recommendations are implemented. Management Support: Contribute to the preparation of management accounts and financial reports for internal decision-making, supporting operations. Preferred Requirements: Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience, demonstrating a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices. Professional Qualification: Completion or working toward a professional qualification such as CPA, CMA, or ACCA. Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel). Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting, payroll processing, and data entry. Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly present financial information, preferably proficient in both English and Mandarin. Work Environment: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
