Monte Christo Winery is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Hospitality/Front of House (FOH) Manager to join our team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about wine, food, and providing an exceptional guest experience in a fast-paced environment. As a key member of our small team, this role offers a unique opportunity to jump in and take ownership of our front-of-house operations and guest experience, alongside Fritzy the Food Trailer and our Cellar Door.
You will play a key role in leading the hospitality side of the business and delivering an outstanding, memorable guest experience. You will need to be comfortable wearing many hats in this varied role, which includes everything from greeting customers and pouring wine & beer to clearing tables and supporting the Food Trailer team.
As we enter our second busy summer season, we're looking for an experienced leader to take the reins with an open mind and a focus on continuous improvement.
This is a fixed-term position for the summer/autumn season with the potential for extension to a permanent role. As a senior position, you must be available to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
Responsibilities:Lead and manage front-of-house operationsGreet and interact with guests to create a welcoming and warm atmosphereSupervise and train staff in a professional and relaxed manner, setting a high standard for guest servicePerform opening and closing dutiesEnsure the cleanliness and presentation of dining and service areasInventory management and replenishing necessary suppliesOversee cash handling procedures and monitor daily operationsSkills & Attributes:Strong interpersonal skills, able to build rapport and inspire trust with both customers and the teamPassionate about delivering excellent customer service and creating memorable guest experiencesWine knowledge or a strong interest in learning about wine (wine confidence is a bonus!)Computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office, POS, and CRM systemsPossess a strong work ethic, with a willingness to help where neededMust have, or be able to obtain, a current Duty Manager's CertificateAbility to lift and handle materials weighing up to 18 kgsCapable of managing conflict in a professional and constructive mannerFounded in 1864 by Jean Désiré Féraud, Monte Christo Winery is the birthplace of Central Otago wine.
