Hospital Play Specialist at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Waitaha Canterbury, ChristchurchHours of work are between 0800 - 1630, Monday - Friday negotiable as per FTEFixed Term parental leave position 24 hours per week (0.6FTE) starting February 2025Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders.

About the role As a Hospital Play Specialist, your role is based in the Activity Room (a licensed hospital-based Early childhood service) and in the paediatric wards to support a diverse range of paediatric patients with a variety of medical and health needs.
Our role as Hospital Play Specialists is to work in partnership with the multidisciplinary team to support pepe, tamariki, and rangatahi and their whanau to whakatere (navigate) the hospital system.
We do this by helping them to cope with hospitalisation, minimising associated stress and anxiety, building coping strategies, and creating opportunities for participating in health care.
We use play as a medium to achieve this outcome and to create ongoing learning opportunities.
We are looking for an experienced Hospital Play Specialist to join our fun team in a fixed-term, part-time role.
Salary is as per the PSA Allied, Public Health, Scientific and Technical Collective Agreement based on skills and experience. About You Key skills and attributes:
