We are a vibrant team of dental assistants supporting our dentists and dental specialists to care for in-patients and out-patients eligible for hospital dental services. We work in well-equipped facilities and are focused on providing a high standard of general oral healthcare to our patients/clients. This will include providing dental assistance for dental clinicians in both dental clinics and theatre and completing a range of associated administration duties to a high standard.
This is a casual position working on an as-required basis covering staff leave. Some forward planning will be available; however, it will be important that you have the flexibility to work at short notice when covering unscheduled leave. Our service operates between the hours of 8.00 AM and 5.00 PM Monday to Friday.
You will mainly work out of the Nelson hospital; however, from time to time you may be required to work in the wider Nelson/Tasman/Marlborough region.
The full-time equivalent salary for this role is $69,975 to $80,374 (steps 4 – 6) of the current PSA Allied Public Health and Technical MECA, dependent on skills, experience & registration in NZ.
Kowai he kaitono totika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?) Previous dental assisting experience is required. Comprehensive training will be provided to the preferred applicant.
You will have a good standard of oral and written communication (minimum of Year 11 NCEA English and Maths – or equivalent) and, if not previously attained, you will be prepared to undertake the NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Dental Assistance) which is to be completed within 2 years of commencement in the role.
The successful candidate must be a resident in New Zealand and hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
