The Auckland Domain alone gets over one million visitors per year! We proudly create an environment for all Aucklanders and visitors to our city to enjoy, while caring for and maintaining gardens that contain a diverse range of exotic and native NZ plants.
We are looking for someone to share their passion and knowledge with the Gardens visitors and other budding horticulturists, providing training and mentoring for emerging staff and those participating in our horticultural traineeship programmes; as well as collaborating with other gardening staff in maintaining and developing our plant collections and other garden areas.
Key responsibilities: Maintenance of amenity gardens using a variety of plant and equipmentEnsure the appropriate plant introductions are made and all plants are labelled (where required)Maintain records of all data relevant to the gardensLiaise with garden visitors, Friends, local user groups, iwi, stakeholders and commercial usersIf you have the passion for working outdoors, are physically fit and happy to get your hands dirty no matter the weather, then this is the role for you! It would also be beneficial if you had some previous horticultural experience or a horticultural qualification; and have an interest in growing and caring for native and exotic plants.
