This is in line with our value Connection, something that takes time and continuity, and helps the people we support to engage with the community around them.
Most volunteers visit a few hours a week, but this impact builds up when they are consistent and have full commitment.
For this reason, we ask that you only apply to be a volunteer if you plan to do so for the long term, ie a minimum of 6 months.Volunteer roles can include: Supporting a LEAP Coordinator with an activity group;Supporting someone 1-1 while at LEAP or in their home;Taking a person we support out in the community to do an activity of their choice.To do this, you will be energetic, empathetic, and able to work alongside people we support, helping them create a life of rich and diverse experiences while being able to read situations, problem-solve, and apply boundaries or offer space.Nga haora kua tohua | Rostered hours:Hours and times depend on the volunteer role and the availability of the person we support that the volunteer is matched with.Mo koe | About YouYour aroha and approach are what really matters at Hohepa.
Volunteering does not require any qualifications in health and wellbeing.
In fact, volunteers come from all sorts of backgrounds.
