Herd Manager (Winchmore) 3195Lo

We have a job available for two experienced farm workers (12+ months) for a Herd Manager position on a farm in the Winchmore area. This is for an 800 cow farm, 15 minutes from Ashburton, milking through an 80 Bail Rotary shed.

You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including:

Milking and monitoring milk quality,

Stock handling and feeding (feed management),

Fencing, weed control,

Calving, calf rearing,

Shed maintenance & preparation,

Tractor operation for feeding out, baling, mowing and silage,

Monitoring, recording and maintaining animal health,

Other general farm duties.

Weekly hours are a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 45. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, should you work beyond the agreed maximum hours in a fortnightly pay period, you will be paid the agreed overtime hourly rate of $29.66 for any hours beyond the maximum hours.

The schedule may vary; the roster will be 6 days on, 2 days off; however, this may change during the mating season.

Salary is up to $69,405 per annum subject to experience.

Candidates must have previous dairy farming experience and are required to provide good related references.

Be physically fit.

Be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Have at least a restricted driver licence.
