Job DescriptionWe have a job available for three experienced farm workers (at least 10+ months) for a Herd Manager position on a farm in the Opunake area. This is for a 950-cow farm, milking through a 60-bail rotary shed.You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including:Milking and monitoring milk qualityStock handling and feeding (feed management)Fencing, weed controlCalving, calf rearingShed maintenance & preparationTractor operation for feeding out, baling, mowing, and silageMonitoring, recording, and maintaining animal healthOther general farm dutiesWeekly hours are a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 45. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, should you work beyond the agreed maximum hours in a fortnightly pay period, you will be paid the agreed overtime hourly rate of $29.66 for any hours beyond the maximum hours.The schedule may vary; the roster will be 6 days on, 2 days off for the rest of the year.Wage is up to $29.66 per hour subject to experience.Minimum RequirementsCandidates must have previous dairy farming experience and are required to provide good related references.
