Job Description We have a job available for an experienced farm worker (at least 12+ months) for a Herd Manager role on a 330 cow farm in the Manutahi area, milking through a 40 Bail Rotary shed. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking and monitoring milk quality, - stock handling and feeding (feed mgt), - fencing, weed control, - calving, calf rearing, - shed maintenance & preparation, - tractor operation for feeding out, baling, mowing and silage - monitoring, recording and maintaining animal health - and other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 55. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, should you work beyond the agreed maximum hours in a fortnightly pay period, you will be paid the agreed overtime hourly rate of $29.66 for any hours beyond the maximum hours. The schedule may vary but generally work hours are between 5am and go through 5:30pm with meal and rest breaks; Roster will be 11 days on, 3 days off for the rest of the year. Wage is up to $29.66 per hour subject to experience. Candidates will ideally have previous dairy farming experience and are required to provide good related references. To be considered you must: - provide a CV which is current, correct and complete or alternative evidence of work (this is proof of work and professionalism and the employer will not consider you without this) - be a solid worker and with good character (where possible, we will do a criminal check) - be physically fit - be able to pass a pre-employment drug test Fair warning - if you're not willing to get up early, work hard, work & communicate well with others, you won't want this job (or last in it). Accommodation A solo 3 bedroom cottage with fireplace is included. No pets or smoking in the accommodation. Rent will be deducted from wages. Power, Internet and water are payable by the worker.
