About the Business: Maxion Equipment & Truck Rental Limited is a west Auckland based equipment hire, truck rental and mechanic maintenance company that caters to our customer transport needs across the wider North Island region.
Your responsibilities will include: The Heavy Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and diagnostics of diesel motors, plant machinery, construction equipment, trucks, and other heavy equipment.
The role requires both in-workshop and field service responsibilities, ensuring that all machinery operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining uptime for equipment and machinery, supporting customers, and ensuring smooth operations through reliable maintenance services.
Maintain, test, and repair construction equipment by diagnosing faults, inspecting and reassembling key components, performing scheduled maintenance, and ensuring compliance with operational and environmental standards.Respond to on-site breakdowns, provide technical support for troubleshooting and equipment setup, and ensure optimal performance of equipment prepared for customer hire.Manage and monitor inventory of spare parts, conduct stock takes, and organize the delivery, storage, and distribution of goods and equipment within the workshop.Maintain accurate repair and service records, coordinate with sub-contractors, support workshop upkeep, perform general labor tasks, and collaborate with departments to ensure smooth operations.Build rapport with customers through product demonstrations and technical support, collaborate with sales for quotations and follow-ups, promote suitable equipment and services, and occasionally travel for on-site assistance.Enforce quality control, inspect equipment performance, monitor for safety hazards, and promote WHS compliance to maintain high standards and a culture of safety in the workshop.We are expecting you have: Proven experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic in a similar role (workshop and field service).Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.Proficiency with diagnostic tools and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.Ability to read and interpret service manuals and technical documentation.Strong organizational skills for managing spare parts inventory and equipment preparation.Knowledge of WHS guidelines and safe work practices.A valid driver's license (with endorsements for heavy vehicles will be preferred).Ability to lift and handle heavy equipment as needed.Willingness to travel domestically for field service or customer visits.Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or on-call shifts if necessary.
This is full-time position and you will be required to work minimum 40 hours per week.
