As our Health & Safety Manager for Auckland Council, you will be a passionate professional ready to make your mark within a huge organisation where no two days are the same.
This critical position will be responsible for promoting, engaging and delivering on our health and safety strategy, leveraging the strengths of a team of HSW Business Partners and HSW Managers to support successful work outcomes. With your exceptional communication skills, you will lead by influence, coaching and sharing your expert health and safety knowledge. This is a senior role within the Health, Safety, & Wellbeing department at Auckland Council, and manages the delivery of innovation and improvement projects and high-quality, modern, health and safety advisory services within the central HSW team to support HSW Managers and teams across the organisation to deliver great work.

You will have excellent influencing and relationship management skills alongside strong people management experience. Highly resilient and innovative, you will be a team player who turns up each day willing to contribute to a high performing team culture, providing effective leadership, and proactively building collaborative partnerships. Ideally, you will bring:
10+ years operational H&S experience in a complex environment
Degree in Health and Safety Management or similar tertiary qualification
Registration as an accredited health and safety professional with a HASANZ organisation, such as NZISM
5+ years' experience as a People Leader in an operational team
Knowledge of industry best practice and current trends in health and safety (including Safety II/Safety Differently/HOP etc)
Solid legislative and technical knowledge in health and safety
Competence in Te Reo Maori and Tikanga Maori would be highly regarded
