Location: Auckland - Auckland Medical and Health Services Manager Southern Cross Brightside
Health and Safety LeadSouthern Cross Brightside Hospital in Epsom, Auckland has 33 in-patient beds and 6 day-stay chairs. Surgical specialities include Orthopaedics, Urology, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Otolaryngology. Our hospital features an intermediate care facility, a specialised post-operative ward for patients with medical conditions or surgical issues that require an enhanced level of monitoring and care. The beds are equipped to support invasive monitoring, medical infusions, and a 24-hour monitoring service, with specialised nurses with the knowledge and skills to deliver a more sophisticated level of care as required. Credentialled practitioners and their patients have access to four advanced operating theatres, with special features such as a visual/digital theatre, laminar flow and state-of-the-art theatre equipment. Each of these theatres is supported by the latest sterilisation and anaesthetic technologies and systems.
Mo te Turanga | About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Lead with a high staff and contractor engagement approach to join our Brightside team. This is a 0.8 FTE position. This role will lead the Health and Safety and Staff Wellbeing Programs within the Hospital and will actively support and coach the H&S representatives. This will include providing technical leadership, expert advice, and practical support to ensure that the hospital health and safety programme is high functioning and supports a culture that demonstrates active participation, leadership and accountability by all people who come to work at Brightside Hospital.

A minimum of three years of experience in a similar role
Experience with Learning Teams and Human and Operational Performance
New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety (Practice) Level 3 or tertiary qualification
Established and maintains relationships with people, forging useful partnerships with people across business areas, functions and the organisation
Has the ability to build trust through consistent actions, values and communication
Demonstrated ability to critically appraise information, including data and share with staff on all levels of the organisation.
