The Role Our Role : This role supports operational sites, functions, disciplines and project managers to achieve compliance with Company and regulatory requirements, work towards world class health, safety and environment (HSE) performance and provide advice on routine and project-related HSE matters.
Key focus areas the role will include : Support a mature safety culture across APAC South where people are looking out for their own and their co-workers' health and safety. Provide guidance to help site managers and site HSE personnel to implement required programs, monitor implementation, and ensure compliance with Graymont HSE Standards and all relevant HSE regulatory requirements. Support and train regional users on company HSE system use (including but not limited to SIRS, EIRS, ECATS). Support the regional execution of global HSE and sustainability initiatives to deliver outcomes aligned to Graymont's strategic objectives. Partner with Operations to drive a sustained reduction in safety and environmental incidents, ensuring effective risk management, appropriate training, competency verification, and implementation of Graymont best practice. Provide expert advice and support by monitoring HSE and sustainability performance and key metrics, identifying internal and external trends, recommending improvements and informing decision-making and strategy development. Lead environmental permitting projects in collaboration with Graymont regional and functional leaders by liaising with regulatory authorities, coordinating external resources, and supporting engagement with relevant stakeholders. Support sites in proactive and value-adding community and regulator engagement that maintains and strengthens Graymont's social licence to operate. Assist with preparing reporting materials as required, including for regulators, present progress on key projects at regularly scheduled meetings, and actively participate in key forums including APAC HSE team meetings. Coordinate Company HSE regulatory reporting. Support safety and environmental incident investigations, helping to identify and implement corrective and preventative measures, including organisational factors. Influence, mentor, coach and develop regional peers on HSE issues and to enable compliance with Company and regulatory HSE requirements. Role model the Graymont values and support implementation of sustainability programs and initiatives within the region. Serve as first point of contact and/or escalation for relevant operational HSE issues that require escalation. Provide specialist HSE services and technical advice to Operations, other functions and to designated projects. Build strong relationships with Operations members to influence uptake and utilization of HSE priorities, activities and the HSE Management System. Work collaboratively between facilities to share learnings regarding the safety and environmental standards. Maintain and improve competency through various professional and learning means. Outcomes All APAC South sites meet Graymont Safety and Environment Standards and the relevant HSE regulatory requirements and are continuously improving. All relevant permits are identified across APAC South. APAC South sites are provided with appropriate HSE and sustainability guidance and support. HSE and Sustainability outcomes are aligned to the Graymont strategy and are delivered through cross-functional collaboration and partnership with key regional and functional leaders across the business. Positive, proactive and value-adding relationships with key external stakeholders including regulators and local community. Demonstrated improvements in safety culture maturity across APAC South sites. Compliance with regulatory reporting in the region. Compliance with Company and regulatory HSE requirements. Ideal Profile Ideally, the successful candidate will have the following attributes and qualifications :
Essential A formal tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, environmental science / engineering or related discipline. At least 3 years' proven health, safety and environmental experience that may be gained in the resource, manufacturing or heavy industry sector or equivalent transferrable experience and skills from another industry. Current driver's licence. Desirable Nationally recognised qualification in training and assessment. Well-developed analytical and technical skills for data interpretation, review and reporting. Sound understanding of current health, safety and environmental legislation, issues and corporate requirements. Project management skills including budgeting and cost control. Good working knowledge of MS Office applications and experience effectively utilising safety software. Strong negotiation, influencing and team building skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including experience drafting safe work method statements / similar documents. Good presentation skills. First aid certificate. What's on Offer?
