We process over 700 million litres of milk a year and produce a wide range of consumer and foodservice products, and dairy ingredients, and we are truly passionate about the world-class products we produce.The Role:A fantastic opportunity has arisen at our Hokitika site for a Health & Safety Advisor to join our committed H&S team.
Working in a team of 4, reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, this role will ensure compliance with legislative requirements and help drive strategic initiatives aligned with the company's Zero Harm health and safety objectives, and support the continuous improvements of our company health and safety culture, behaviours and performance.
This is a hands-on role that is expected to be highly visible to its stakeholders by spending the majority of its time out in the business providing coaching and advice on health and safety matters.
This role is critical in ensuring Westland Milk Products keeps Health & Safety as an integral part of our business, where keeping our people safe is our #1 priority.More specifically, the Health & Safety Advisor will be responsible for:Assisting with the development and implementation of robust health, safety and wellbeing initiativesCoaching, guiding and mentoring our people in the application of health and safety policies, guidelines, and practicesDeveloping and maintaining relevant safety documents and recordsIncident investigation & risk management and reporting on any H&S incidentsCreating and implementing site safety plans across all business unitsSupporting site Emergency Preparedness & ResponsesAssisting with relevant legislative and organisational H&S compliance requirementsIdeally applicants will possess:Previous proven Health & Safety experience, preferably gained in a large organisation or manufacturing environment and ideally supported by relevant H&S qualifications (completed or in progress).Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, and WorkSafe policiesKnowledge of permit systems and high-risk activity management would be beneficial and any ICAM knowledge/training would be highly advantageousExcellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate a wide range of information and ideas to a diverse audience along with excellent written communication skills to deliver reports, manuals, training material and policy documentsExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and build effective working relationshipsA proactive approach and a high level of attention to detailThe ability and desire to work cooperatively as part of a small but dynamic team demonstrating energy, vision and initiative is also essentialNo day will ever look the same as you immerse yourself into this busy and dynamic environment.
