It affirms both tangata whenua status of whanau, hapu, and iwi in Aotearoa New Zealand, and their rights to citizenship.
Te Tiriti o Waitangi provides a basis through which Maori may critically analyze relationships, challenge the status quo, and affirm Maori rights.
At Arowhenua Whanau Services our purpose is to ensure that the needs of Maori living in the Takiwa of Te Runanga o Arowhenua are responded to in an appropriate way by bringing whanau, hapu, iwi, and Maori community development into a relationship with health, social services and education provision.
Arowhenua Whanau Services provides free, accessible primary health and social service support to tangata whaiora, whanau, and hapori across the Aoraki rohe.
Our vision is to remove barriers where those with the least resources have as much as, or more, access to healthcare than those with the most.

Mo te turanga | About the role The Hiringa Hauora team will work with tangata whaiora, whanau, and hapori to plan and develop ways to improve and reach the best health outcomes.
The team will also work with government and other agencies to improve environmental conditions that contribute to health and may develop policies, strategies, and programs for improving health, coordinate health promotion programs, and deliver education in prevention.
Examples of health promotion include: Improving nutrition Improving oral health Promoting physical activity As the Hiringa Hauora Kaihautu, you will lead the following: Develop policies, strategies, and programs for improving health outcomes.
Work with other agencies to coordinate health promotion programs.
Work alongside kura, hapori and ropu (target groups) to identify health issues and solutions.
Lead and manage health promotion programs.
Advocate for health promotion causes.
Establish networks in the hapori.
Develop promotional and educational material for publication.
