Totara Health is looking for a Health Improvement Practitioner (Pouora) to join our busy and dynamic practice. We are looking for somebody who has already trained, or is wanting to train as a Health Improvement Practitioner. In order to apply, you need to be a fully registered health professional with one of the following authorities: Health Practitioners Competency Assurance Act (HPCA), DAPAANZ, NZAC, NZNC, OTRB or SWRB.We have full time and part time roles available, Monday – Friday, offer a competitive hourly rate and provide a supportive environment for staff and patients to thrive.What is a HIP?A Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) is a registered practitioner based within a General Practice delivering behavioural health interventions to our enrolled patients. HIPs work directly with patients and their whanau to help improve their overall mental health and wellbeing and they also provide advice to other members of the General Practice team.As a HIP you provide half hourly sessions with people experiencing any thoughts, feelings or behaviours that are impacting their overall wellbeing. HIPs need to be a generalist in their approach to supporting people with their health and wellbeing concerns.About YouYou will be a fully registered health professional with one of the following authorities: Health Practitioners Competency Assurance Act (HPCA), DAPAANZ, NZAC, NZNC, OTRB or SWRB.You will be passionate about making a difference for our community of enrolled patients. This includes having empathy for our patients and a commitment to provide the highest standard of service.You will have clinical experience providing behavioural intervention and use reflective practice as a tool for growth and development. Experience within the mental health sector and/or working with youth would be advantageous.You will have an understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural issues and concerns, in particular, knowledge of tikanga Maori, and Pacific peoples' culture.You will have a genuine interest in improving health outcomes for Maori and other underserved populations in our community.You will have a natural ability to build strong working relationships across a multidisciplinary team of Doctors, Nurses, Counsellors, Pharmacists, Health Coaches and Administrative staff.If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to undertake training (if you have not already) via Te Pou over a period of six months in order to be fully endorsed as a HIP.How to ApplyIf this sounds like you, please apply with your CV and a cover letter detailing your relevant experience.
