As a Health Care Assistant, you will be part of our dedicated nursing environment with full support. Your role is to work within the team to assist nursing staff in care delivery, one-to-one patient therapeutic observations, and other tasks as directed.

These are casual positions working on an as-required basis, primarily across AM and PM shifts, rostered Monday to Sunday, with the occasional night shift.

Shift times

AM: 07:00 to 15:30

PM: 14:45 to 23:15

Night shifts: 22:45 to 07:15 (occasional)

N.B. There are no fixed hours of work associated with casual employment. However, some forward planning will be available when covering planned leave.

The more shifts you're available to work, the more hours you will be offered.

The full-time equivalent salary for a Health Care Assistant ranges from $58,100 to $68,309 based on the current NZNO Nursing & Midwifery MECA.

We practice in a collaborative patient partnership model of care to achieve the best outcomes for our patients/families and whanau.

You will have a mature outlook, the ability to get on with a wide variety of people, good information technology (IT) skills (especially with MS Excel and Word), and excellent organisational and communication skills.

You will also have the ability to work in a flexible and methodical manner, demonstrating honesty and reliability, and will be adaptable to change, use appropriate initiative, and respond flexibly to service needs.

Experience within the health sector is essential, and additional training will be provided.

Qualifications

Essential

Year 11 NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent)

Year 11 NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent)

NZQA level 3 qualification (or equivalent)*

Mandatory requirement NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand, if not previously obtained, is to be commenced once orientations have been attended.
