The Opportunity We are looking for a permanent, part time (0.5FTE) Health Care Assistant to join our team.

STAR 4 is a 20-bed rehabilitation ward for patients 16 years and over in the Horowhenua Health Centre, Levin, although most patients are over 65 years old. It is part of the MidCentral Healthy Ageing and Rehabilitation (HAR) Cluster based in Palmerston North and has links to the Community Elder Health Team. STAR 4 cares for a multitude of health consumers including palliative and end of life.
For this position, essential requirements include:
The ability to adapt easily in a changing environmentThe ability to be flexible and prioritiseThe ability to work effectively within a teamExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsA high degree of physical capacityExcellent time management and organisational skillsSensitivity to cultural and ethnic differencesAbility to maintain strict confidentialitySuccessful completion of a Care Givers or related course.There is an expectation for the successful candidates to complete a study programme which includes self-directed workbooks. Any comparable course already undertaken by the successful candidate will be taken into account. When the programme is completed, the candidate is a fully qualified Care Assistant.
