About the role As Health Care Assistant you will be involved in the following: Supporting our Nurses and other members of the Healthcare teamPatient supervision and/or movementWard maintenancePatient cares, as requiredBecoming a Health Care Assistant in the health sector is a great opportunity to: Use your caring and empathetic nature in your workReceive on-the-job training and supportGain a NZQA Level 2 or Level 3 certificate (Health and Wellbeing for Hospitals and Health sector) with fees that are fully fundedThe Nursing Resource Unit has the unique benefit of being able to offer you variety in your workplace. You would get to see the ins and outs of the whole hospital, where each day you may be based in a different environment.
About you We are seeking applications from those with previous health care experience, and from those who are dynamic, friendly and can demonstrate a high level of initiative. You will be committed to high standards of practice, be well organised and have excellent communication skills.
It is important that candidates are motivated, flexible, have a level of maturity about them and of course plenty of enthusiasm. Experience working with people in a caring capacity is also essential, whether that experience is gained from within a professional environment or from caring for children or family members. Our induction includes a two-day training programme to ensure you are fully equipped to undertake the role as a valuable part of the team. You must have the right to work in New Zealand to apply for this position.
Our ideal candidate will have: Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settingsWorking for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
