Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity We are seeking a Health Care Assistant to join the Interventional Radiology team here at Waikato Hospital. As Interventional Radiology's Health Care Assistant, you will work under the supervision of Registered Nurses to provide support and assistance to patients and staff across the three IR theatres.
A key part of your role will be to use your time management and prioritisation skills to assist the team in maintaining theatre efficiency, ensuring our patients have a smooth transition in and out of theatre and keeping the department clean and well stocked.
This is a 0.6FTE (48 hours per fortnight), permanent role where you will work 0800-1630hrs between Monday – Friday. (Please note this may be subject to change)
Key responsibilities of the role: Assist IR theatre staff with the safe transfer of patients on and off the IR tables, this also includes pushing and remaking beds. Aiding the quick turnover of the IR theatres. Maintaining a clean and well stocked department. Monthly expiry date checks of all consumables and removal of expired stock. The multi-disciplinary Interventional Radiology team is supportive, dynamic and flexible, working collaboratively to provide quality care to patients within our region. IR caters to all specialties and performs a wide range of minimally invasive procedures, which rely on the use of radiological image guidance (x-ray, fluoroscopy, ultrasound and CT). In the majority of procedures, patients are awake or lightly sedated.
Key Qualifications: Excellent verbal communication and time-management skills. Be physically fit as the role involves physical manual handling. Be dedicated to being an important part of our health care team. The ability to problem solve and troubleshoot. Be responsive to urgency and the ability to prioritise. Preferably, you will have had previous experience in a healthcare setting within New Zealand as a Health Care Assistant.
