The Inpatient Unit covers a variety of medical and surgical specialties and you will be working rostered and rotating AM: 0645-1515, PM: 1430-2300, Night shifts: 2230-0700 from Monday to Sunday.As a Health Care Assistant, you will be part of our dedicated nursing environment with full support. Your role is to work within the team to assist nursing staff in care delivery, basic patient observations, some clinical tests and monitoring, and other tasks as directed by the Registered Nurse.About the Team/LocationWe practice in a collaborative patient partnership model of care to achieve the best outcomes for our patients/families and whanau.About YouCompetency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.You will have a mature outlook, the ability to get on with a wide variety of peopleGood information technology (IT) skills (especially with MS Excel and Word) and excellent organisational and communication skills.You will also have the ability to work in a flexible and methodical manner, demonstrating honesty and reliability, and will be adaptable to change, use appropriate initiative, and respond flexibly to service needs.Experience within the health sector is preferred, but is not essential as full training will be provided.NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand, if not previously obtained, will be offered once orientation requirements have been completed.QualificationsYear 11 NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent)Year 11 NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent)Working for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
