About the Trust
Tuaropaki Trust was born from the unity of 279 Maori land Owners in 1952. The original owners of the Tuaropaki whenua believed that they could achieve more by working together. They amalgamated their family lands under an overarching vision to develop the land to provide opportunities for our whanau.
Today, Tuaropaki Trust is an Ahu Whenua Trust under the auspices of Te Ture Whenua Maori. There are more than 2,700 Owners, a mix of individuals, Whanau Trusts and Kaitiaki Trusts, all descended from the original Owners. The Trust is a kaitiaki for ancestral taonga and manages complex business interests in the food and energy sectors, with assets valued at around $1 billion.

The Role
As the Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for leading the development and roll out of the Trust's health and safety road map, including a critical risk management framework and associated systems and processes.
Additional duties will include:
Developing and implementing a fit for purpose health and safety roadmap
Managing all safety management activities e.g. investigations, reporting, assurance
Coaching and supporting kaimahi
Championing safety excellence across Tuaropaki
Establishing strong reporting processes and culture
Actively promoting the Trust's values and interests
Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating technical information
Sharing technical expertise and best practices with others to enhance their skills and capabilities
What You'll Need to be Successful
Recognised tertiary health and safety qualification
Substantial operational experience
Deep experience in contemporary health and safety risk management tools and frameworks
Prior expertise in development and implementation of a health and safety road map
A track record of making quality decisions within your area of responsibility
A proven ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, navigate issues and solve problems
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build and leverage relationships and partner with colleagues and others across the industry to achieve shared outcomes
