Quality Marshalling is a 100% owned subsidiary of Port of Tauranga and a leading provider of Port related logistics services at Port of Tauranga and Timaru.
We are currently seeking a motivated Health and Safety Advisor to join our team. This position is crucial to fostering a positive and engaging health and safety culture in our workplace. The ideal candidate for this position will be a proactive problem solver who enjoys working with operational staff to develop and implement realistic, practical solutions for everyday health and safety issues. Experience in a Safety role in a logistics operational environment and a sound working knowledge of the HSWA and other legislation applicable would be advantageous, but the role also may suit a recent safety graduate.
The full time position (40 hours) reports to our Operations Manager based at Port of Tauranga, and includes regular travel to our operations in Timaru and future growth locations. This role will require physical tasks to be undertaken both operationally and in the office, including;
Working with operational staff to develop, implement, monitor and audit practical risk management and safety solutions then documenting activities into formal procedures and training processes.
Effectively collaborate with customers, contractors and other PCBUs to develop and manage joint safety processes to manage risk in multi user port work environments
Working with Senior management on reporting, communications, risk management, incident response, legislative compliance, wellbeing and improvement initiatives; and
Assisting in the education and awareness of health & safety across the business.

An excellent communicator with a talent for engaging effectively with people from all different backgrounds
Confident to work in heavy plant operational areas and in an outdoor 24/7 operational industry
Observant with great attention to detail
Highly computer literate and confident to produce professional operational documentation
Able to work in both a team environment and unsupervised
Able to identify issues and assist with remediation strategies
Passionate about safety and the environment; and
Positive and approachable.
A tertiary qualification in Health & Safety will be advantageous but is not essential.
