This role is multi-faceted and will be a key member of the URLAR team. This role will commence late-September 2024, or by arrangement. The position is a physically-active role and requires a strong balance of hands-on and technical skills in our brand-new state-of-the-art winery.Duties include but are not limited to:Assist in supervising all day-to-day cellar operationsSupervise and train vintage staffAssist with laboratory analysisReview and implementation of SOPOversee safety training and management of compliance issues to provide a safe workplaceMaintain winery equipment and winemaking facilitiesFinish wines for bottlingReporting and audit to a regulatory bodyOccasional hosting at our onsite tasting room and engaging with our customers during winemaker dinners, festivals etc. when requiredDesired skills and experience:Degree in Oenology or equivalentExperience with both the practical and technical aspects of the winemaking process, both fermentation and finishing winesConfident in team communication and leadership skillsStrong maths/lab skills and good engineering/mechanical knowledgeExperience in a premium organic/non-organic winemaking environment focused on pinot noirStrong organizational, teambuilding and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detailGreat communication skills, both written and spokenGreat sense of humour and positive thinkingAbility to work flexible hoursCommitment to the Wairarapa region
