We have a fantastic opportunity for a swimming coach at Northland's largest amateur swim club, based in Whangarei.

We are looking for a passionate, dynamic head coach or an assistant coach looking at moving up into a head coach role at the Whangarei Academy of Swimming.Position Title: Head Coach or Assistant Coach (depending on experience).Location: Whangarei, New ZealandRole: Permanent part time.
We run five days a week swimming 4 mornings and 4 afternoons.
Mainly before school (6:15-7:45) and after school (16:00-19:00).
We will also require coaches to attend occasional weekend regional swim meets (Auckland/Northland Region) and annual national meets, when required.Remuneration: Dependent on role and experience.The successful applicant will require:A current First Aid Certification – or be willing to undertake training.The ability to pass Police Vetting.The successful applicant would ideally have or be working towards:Knowledge of competitive swimming and coaching.Coaching experience at club level, with proven success (Head Coach).Completed, or working towards, a Teacher of Competitive Stroke course and a New Zealand Swim Coach Bronze Certificate.Great people skills to motivate and inspire younger children right through to young adults.Ability to plan and deliver meaningful training sessions across all abilities of swimmers.Ability to liaise with swimmers on individual development plans and track their progress.Great leadership and communication skills, including an ability to mentor and develop junior coaches.Ability to co-ordinate with committee members to grow the club, with an aspiration to become New Zealand's leading swim club by 2030.Ability to work independently and manage your own time and workload.A passion to constantly improve your own skills and knowledge.Additional Information:Whangarei Swimming Club is Northland's oldest and largest swim club with plans for further growth and development in the future.
The club has over 60 members across 4 different squad levels including performance, development, junior and fitness.
The club competes in regional competitions and annual competitions (depending on performance).Depending on the applicants we have 2 different roles available.
For an experienced swimming coach we have a Head Coaching role available on a permanent part time basis.
For applicants starting their coaching career we have a fantastic mentor available to build up your experience with the intention of getting you to a Head Coach role.
These roles offer you a chance to stamp your mark on the New Zealand swimming scene, develop your coaching skills, and enjoy the fulfilment of working with children in sport.
