NZSki boasts one of the most modern and innovative rental fleets in the world comprising of the leading Head BYS system and the Burton LTR snowboards.
The Head Ski Technician is responsible for supervising our Ski and Snowboard Technicians to service and repair all snowsports equipment.
This role will also work in the Workshop to repair & maintain all snowsports equipment, as well as answer any technical guest and rental operation questions for the wider crew.
About the role Safely tune and repair guest, staff, and rental snowsports equipment with professional service and guest relations.
Supervise and operate the workshop maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Manage a small team of ski techs, including onboarding, training, rostering, and upskilling.
Ensure all daily staff schedules are correct and up to date.
Share information across the team by holding daily debriefs at the end of the day.
Actively recognise the team using NZSki's recognition program.
Foster a H&S positive team environment.
Report any new arising hazards or work incidents and injuries.
Be a role model and lead by example.
Support in wider rental team training delivery pre-season and providing ongoing training thereafter.
Act as a contact point for any team queries or issues.
Support the rental floor staff at peak times if required.
Attend Team Leader and H&S meetings.
Deliver exemplary customer service.
General machine maintenance skills.
About You Minimum one year experience as a Lead Technician or Ski Workshop Team Leader or similar.
Minimum three years experience as a Ski or Snowboard Technician.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Health & safety conscious.
A certificate at NZQA Level 4, or a higher qualification, which includes the credit and knowledge requirements of one of the strands of the New Zealand Certificate in Snowsports Equipment.
Experience with current ski and snowboard servicing machinery and their techniques of use is preferred.
Minimum one season as a rentals assistant or rentals technician is essential.
Further Information This role is planned to start in May 2025.
