The Head of Wastewater reports to the Chief Operations Officer and is responsible for leading operational wastewater teams across the Auckland region. Specific responsibilities include wastewater treatment, wastewater discharge, biosolids management, wastewater collection and transmission, planned work activities, and incident management.
Key responsibilities for this role will include:
To lead, manage and enable the operations of wastewater collection and transmission systems.
Lead, direct and communicate regular reviews and monitoring, planning and coordination of wastewater systems to ensure business processes are followed.
Execute the customer care strategy to ensure that customer and environmental impacts are minimised and effectively managed.
Oversee and manage a multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality services against objectives and standards.
Oversee the teams that ensure transmission and wastewater network assets are effectively managed against KPIs.
Oversee the operational management of wastewater treatment plants and facilities to manage wastewater in accordance with regulations, policies, and requirements.
To drive operational improvements and efficiency programmes.
Provide leadership and support to enable the team to participate in civil defence training, emergency response initiatives, and business continuity plan activities.
What you'll need to succeed / Nga pukenga e rapu nei matou (About you)
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Equivalent to a tertiary degree in engineering, science, or a related field.
Be a Chartered Engineer, or an equivalent independent certification.
Extensive experience in Water or Wastewater operations.
Significant leadership experience leading a dispersed, multidiscipline team including strategic planning in a large, complex environment.
Knowledge and demonstrated practice in finance and budget management.
Knowledge of HSE procedures and regulations in a high-risk environment.
