Scots College is committed to the normalisation of te reo Maori in each of its three schools i.e. Junior (1–6), Middle (7–10) and Senior (11–13). The College also offers the new NCEA Te Ao Haka programme at NCEA Levels 2 and 3. To that end, Scots College has scheduled timetabled lessons to the programme, rather than an extracurricular kapa haka group. All Scots College students learn and perform kapa haka through the house system. Their learning is celebrated at the annual Scots College haka competition. In support of our Maori Learning Programme, we are seeking to appoint a talented and motivated head of Te Ao Haka (Senior School). This role involves working in conjunction with our current te reo teachers to work with our akonga, whanau and iwi. Please state all teaching subjects in your application. This role also includes teaching te reo Maori in the Middle School of the College. Scots College delivers all its language programmes through the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme framework. Future goals include delivering NCEA te reo Maori at Levels 2 and 3 and the IB Diploma Language and Culture course to embrace Te Ao Maori.
