Tenei turanga - About the Role:
The Government Property Office is accountable for the System Leadership of the government's office accommodation portfolio. It is also responsible for delivering MBIE's own property strategy and high-quality property outcomes for MBIE.
The government's office accommodation portfolio is significant, encompassing circa 1,000,000 sqm of office space and a rental spend of circa $330 million per year across 73 agencies, including Crown Agents. MBIE is an agency with a significant property portfolio (about 10% of the government's footprint), encompassing both office and non-office sites, across New Zealand and offshore.
As the Head of Strategy and Standards, you'll be the driving force behind optimising our government's property portfolio. You will be responsible for overseeing strategic investments, managing performance metrics, and providing expert guidance to key stakeholders who have a vested interest in the portfolio. This role provides strategic leadership to shape the future of the portfolio, overseeing significant investment to maximise value while inspiring and empowering a high-performing team.
Nga pukenga me nga wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required:
Extensive experience in the development and delivery of large scale/complex investment plans to meet competing objectives
Specific experience in property investment strategy is preferred
In-depth understanding of the Public Finance Act, and significant experience in strategic financial management within the government context
Proven ability to lead, navigate and deliver effective engagement processes across government to achieve desired results
A sound focus on delivery of challenging KPI and property system outcomes
Able to lead Te Tiriti o Waitangi /The Treaty of Waitangi responsiveness within the context of the Government Property Office
