Delivering Auckland's transport solution on such a mammoth scale is no mean feat and we need a talented team to ensure we are up to this task. The Head of Risk and Assurance leads the Risk, compliance, assurance and investigation functions at Auckland Transport (AT). Reporting to the Corporate Services Director with a direct line to the CE (Chief Executive) and Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee (FAC). A key role ensuring a proactive approach is taken to risk management in all AT activities by ensuring risk identification, mitigation, reporting, and related business policies are aligned to good practice and are cost effective. Key areas of responsibility include: Internal Audit Investigations & Specialist audits Compliance Probity Services Business Continuity and Crisis Management The Risk, Assurance and Compliance team will work in an adaptable and fluid way on key projects and initiatives as required to enable collaboration, cross-skilling, and development. This may involve short-term projects in virtual teams and/or the adoption of adaptable work practices. The role requires a strong, collaborative leader to assist AT in growing its reputation with customers, ratepayers, the Board of Directors, and Auckland Council (AC). In addition, you will need: A Bachelor of Commerce along with a post graduate Finance related qualification or Chartered Accounting qualification is preferred. 10 - 15 years' senior leadership experience including management in a complex operational and service delivery environment, including 5 years' experience in a senior management role relating to audit and/or risk function. Good understanding of the local government or public sector regulatory environment and political framework. Experience in use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint. Able to maintain professional and positive relationships at a senior level. Able to sustain a high level of energy and positivity during times of extreme pressure. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
